Welcome to Cokenach Cricket Club.

The cricket club of Barkway, Newsells and Nuthampstead

Cricket has been played on the Cokenach Estate since at least 1908. During the Second World War the teams of Barkway village (est.1907), Newsell's Park (est.1858) and Cokenach agreed to amalgamate in to a single club which would play at the Hertfordshire County Ground on the Cokenach estate. The three clubs have remained as one ever since

Cokenach Cricket Club and estate are keen to contribute to the life of the local community and our flourishing Youth programme, where our ECB coaches visit local schools for training sessions, has been so successful that many Cokenach juniors now play at District and County level.

With a fabulous ground and clubhouse, close to Barkway village, in addition to our junior teams, we also run a senior and friendly team that play most weekends throughout the summer months. With a licenced bar, open whenever cricket is being played, why not come and watch your village team or even pull on some pads for Cokenach this summer. New junior and senior players are always welcome.

The club very much encourages all members of the ‘family’ to get involved in a locally run Cricket Club. For more information, go to our website, visit the club during a game or training morning,
For a chat about all things cricket, call our community ambassador Nick Eve on 07802 224760

This summer, we welcome Great Shelford to our ground for the 2018 season, whilst their own ground is out of commission, and we look forward to watching some exciting cricket played in the county's Premier League.
